NEXT HUB MEETING - March 31 (April 7 is the trip to the Mosque)
IV. Calendar for March & April
- Committee Night - April 14
- Messiah hosts Seder on Maundy Thursday, April 21
- Easter Herald News Due March 24
- Celebration of Music March 27 - Lunch 12:30 PM, Concert 1:30 PM
V. Report of the Pastor - Aileen Robbins
- Installation of Hub Members - Sunday, March 20
- Synod Assembly June 5-7 at Rochester Riverside Convention Center - Registration opens April 1. Messiah to represented by two voting members - one male, one female
- Letters from Bishops Mark Hanson and Marie Jerge were read. A portion of these will be read on Sunday, March 13
- Thanks to Hub and all for hospitality and help shown to Pastor Mary
- April 1 - Pastor Aileen will be Transitional Pastor for a local congregation - 20 hours per week - responsibilities include filling the pulpit for worship, attendance at Council, pastoral care
VI. Mutual Ministry Team & Staff Evaluation Process - Tom Plutchak
- Deadline for evaluations March 13
- Evaluations to David Best - email or snail mail
VII. Call Every Member Project - All
- In process of forming lists of those to be called
- Objectives: personal calls, generate return to worship / better attendance, clean up church rolls
- Most important to follow up questions arising from these calls and to be creative in giving folks something to do if they so choose
VIII. Stewardship - Narrative Budget Proposal - Wayne Reabold
- Committee has great concern for Messiah and the future - declining attendance / finances
- Stewardship should generate interest in giving of time, talents, and treasures
- Messiah a very generous congregation (Maggie’s Kids, Two Doors, etc.)
- New approach - a narrative budget, showing exactly where budget dollars are spent
IX. Identifying, Greeting, Following Up with Visitors / Track Member Attendance - Tom Plutchak
- Good follow up with visitors when contact information is known
- Suggestion for cookie people to call visitors before delivering cookies
- Black attendance book sheets should all have place for name and address
- Invite visitors to raise their hand at worship?
- WEAR NAME TAGS / Improve Greeting
- Contact those not at worship recently - call team? Let the Pastor know; contact by friends
X. Property Updates - Sandy McLellan
- In process of forming a Facilities Ministry Team
- Property items include fellowship hall lights, snow plowing, church cleaning service, church sign, floors, water in boiler room, sign at North Entrance, church rugs, kitchen stove hood, blown circuit, cleaning out the shed, and chair desks no longer being used - currently stored downstairs - go ahead to find new home for these
XI. Other Ministry Updates & Proposals
- Greece CROP Walk - Clive Daunton - First Sunday in May; Messiah to organize Walk; treasurer needed to collect money; meeting soon to plan route, rest stops, delivery of water to various locations, etc.; hosts needed day of Walk to register walkers, etc.
- Reconciling in Christ - Vicki Robinson - Statement being formulated to propose to congregation for a vote - if approved, Messiah will be a reconciling congregation
XII. Communications - Vicki Robinson
- Church website being revamped - a team in process of evaluating website
- Paul Tomblin (Vicki’s husband) to take over maintenance of website
- Team to determine what and when updates are needed
- Advertising dollars for ads in newspapers, etc. not budgeted - proposal needed for this expense
