Congregational Service

A man once asked Jesus about the Holy Spirit. Jesus said the Spirit was like the wind. We cannot se the wind, but we can see the results of the wind moving. So it is with the Spirit. As Christians we believe the Holy Spirit calls us to service to others. Perhaps you have felt “something” gently tugging at you to get involved somehow, some way, in service to others. Perhaps you don’t know how to get involved, or perhaps you don’t know what you might be able to do. If so, contact us at Messiah and we can help. We can help you discover what your “spiritual gifts” are and how you can use them to help others.

At Messiah we have lots of opportunities. Some are brief, but very important like packing the Holiday Food Baskets, or teaching Vacation Bible School. Others can involve you for a few hours a month, every month, like our Visitation Ministry. Still others can involve you as many Sundays as you would like, like serving as an Usher or joining one of our Choirs. We have opportunities to help the leaders who plan and celebrate our worship services; we have opportunities to bring Holy Communion to the homebound and ill.

Listen to that small voice inside you, think of where you have felt most helpful or closest to God – these are ways we can discover where God can use our words, our hands, our hearts. And if you think you aren’t capable, remember that God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called!
