Stephen Ministry

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Learn, Grow, and Serve by Becoming a Stephen Minister
Do you have gifts for caring, encouragement, and listening? If so, please prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church will be training another class of Stephen Ministers in 2008. Stephen Ministers provide emotional and spiritual support and care to people who are going through a difficult time, such as divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation, chronic illness, or loneliness. To find out more about becoming a Stephen Minister please contact the church office.

“The greatest consolation in a time of despair is the knowledge that God has worked in our lives. Until we reach that stage (and none of us is there until a time of trial, until God has rescued us), the best thing that can happen to us is to have loving Christian friends in whose lives God has worked. Through their loyalty (to us and to God), they will hang in there with us and give us the assurance that our God is a God who works, even in the most hopeless situations.”
