Spirit Builders Sunday School
The educational program for youth at Messiah is called Spirit Builders. It is a modular based, experiential learning model, similar to Vacation Bible School. Through a variety of modules, the students experience the Bible Lessons. Students may have a module for reading, art, making a craft, baking a food, writing a play, learning songs- all focused on a particular Bible story or theme. Each grade studies the same Bible Stories and participates in modules to help them learn the story and lessons.
Adult and older youth volunteers are needed for the following activities:
- Workshop coordinators – for Art, Computing, Cooking, Drama, Games, Video, and Miscellaneous
- Supplies coordinator – manages supplies and lesson folders after each rotation and orders supplies for upcoming year
- Shepherd coordinator – recruits and coordinates shepherds (older youth who act as teacher aides for a specific age group in a specific rotation)
- Sunday Morning coordinator – unlocks and sets up rooms for the modules, answers questions from teachers
- Teaching Recruitment coordinator – recruit and train teachers (including returning teachers) for 38 rotations for the upcoming year
- Teachers – needed for each of the 38 rotation workshops each school year
- Shepherds – needed for 38 rotation workshops each year.
- Lead coordinator – recruit and train other coordinators named above.
